We are dedicated to working for a world in which people of all persuasions will be linked by bonds of friendship. As the late Rev. Nikkyo Niwano said, "Interfaith cooperation is the mission for which Rissho Kosei-kai was destined." The organization thus has strenuously pursued interfaith dialogue and cooperation both within Japan and overseas.

We know that true individual happiness is impossible as long as there is one unhappy person in the world. Rev. Nichiko Niwano, the president of Rissho Kosei-kai, puts it this way: "As members of Rissho Kosei-kai, our faith is rooted in the truth of Shakyamuni Buddha's enlightenment and we live in accordance with the bodhisattva vow to strive for both personal enlightenment and the salvation of all. We see the universe and the world as one, all life as one. All life springs from the same source, the universal truth. Thus all people belong to one family, transcending ethnic, religious, and national boundaries."

Who can think of their own happiness alone if they know someone in their family is unhappy? We want to see all members of our family happy. We know that everyone is imbued with this wish of the bodhisattva. We believe, too, that the day will come when all people will become aware of this bodhisattva wish.
