On March 21 the participants flew to Oahu and visited Rissho Kosei-kai of Hawaii in Pearl City, where they participated in a panel presentation for center members. The following morning, they attended a ceremony commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Rissho Kosei-kai of Hawaii.
Since 1994 Rissho Kosei-kai has held the Lotus Sutra seminars almost annually in Japan, and in China in 2005, 2006, and 2007, inviting international scholars to promote discussion and exploration of the Lotus Sutra. The seminars have aimed to make the sutra's teachings better known among Western scholars.
