Forty-five priests and staff members of Samukawa Shrine, in the town of Samukawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, headed by the chief priest, Rev. Yasunori Tone, visited Rissho Kosei-kai headquarters in Tokyo on June 28. It was shrine personnel's second visit to the headquarters. The first visit, by 45 staff members, was on June 21. Samukawa Shrine and Rissho Kosei-kai have promoted exchanges over the years, including participation in the shrine's annual festivals by members of Rissho Kosei-kai's Shonan Dharma Center, in Kanagawa Prefecture.

At a reception at the headquarters in Taisei Hall, adjacent to the Great Sacred Hall, Rev. Takeshi Kawabata, director of Rissho Kosei-kai's General Affairs Bureau, welcomed the visitors. He said Buddhists have been learning many things from Shinto's spiritual tradition of respecting the bounty of nature.

Rev. Tone reviewed the shrine's exchanges with the Shonan Dharma Center and expressed his pleasure of having the opportunity of visiting Rissho Kosei-kai headquarters.

After the showing of a DVD, Bussho kaiken (Revealing the Buddha-nature), staff members of Rissho Kosei-kai's External Affairs Group explained Rissho Kosei-kai's approach to the teachings of Buddhism, and the organization's activities. The Samukawa Shrine priests and staff members then toured the Great Sacred Hall, the Precious Stupa of the One Vehicle, and the Horin-kaku Guest Hall.
