ACRP Secretary-general Confers with President Niwano
Dr. Kim Sunggon, secretary-general of the Asian Conference of Religions for Peace (ACRP), visited Rissho Kosei-kai headquarters in Tokyo on January 11 and conferred with President Nichiko Niwano in the Horin-kaku Guest Hall. Also present were Rev. Masahiro Nemoto, director of Rissho Kosei-kai's External Affairs Department; Rev. Keiichi Akagawa, the department's deputy director; and Ms. Megumi Wada, the external relations director of the Japanese Committee of the World Conference of Religions for Peace.
Dr. Kim thanked Rissho Kosei-kai for its support of ACRP activities. President Niwano praised Dr. Kim for his contributions to interreligious cooperation as the ACRP secretary-general despite his busy schedule as a member of South Korea's parliament. They discussed the eighth general assembly of the ACRP, scheduled to be held in 2013, and an executive committee meeting to be held in South Korea in May of this year. They also discussed forthcoming major events this year in South Korea, including the presidential election, a World Expo in the city of Yeosu, and the fourth interreligious symposium of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
