Rissho Kosei-kai Members Raise Funds for Disaster Victims

The members of the Shizuoka Dharma Center contribute their money for relieving the afflicted members in northeastern Japan.Rissho Kosei-kai members throughout Japan and overseas have been raising funds for relief of the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami. Members set up collection boxes at the entrances to Dharma Centers and hoza centers after the organization’s Task Force for the Eastern Japan Earthquake decided on March 14 to make donations for relief.

At the Shizuoka Dharma Center, there are not only collection boxes but there is also a message board for words of encouragement to the victims. The head of the center’s Young Wives’ Group said she hoped their efforts would console members in the devastated areas and enable them to feel the warmth of the Sangha. Sympathy for afflicted members was felt not only at the Shizuoka Dharma Center, but by members of Rissho Kosei-kai’s worldwide Sangha.

Members of Dharma Centers and liaison offices overseas, including those in Bangkok, Bangladesh, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Mongolia, New York, Oklahoma, San Francisco, Tainan, and Taipei, also placed collection boxes at their facilities.

The fundraising campaign will continue until May 31. The money will be used to relieve afflicted members through the account that Rissho Kosei-kai opened for a relief fund.
